lockout/tagout
OSHA regulations on lockout/tagout procedures for
equipment, which require that machines are properly shut down and that they are
not restarted until service or maintenance on the machine is completed. Tagging
and locking out (e.g., securing that mechanical equipment is disconnected from
to electricity) while employees are performing required maintenance and work
orders, prevents bodily injury and death by employees who might otherwise
startup equipment while maintenance is being performed.
